Fr. Alexander Cordos was born in the city of Baia Mare (Maramures county), Romania. He spent three years of his childhood in Germany (where he started to attend school and learned German language), and at the age of 15, he moved to the Island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Spain. He studied Theology in Mallorca and Barcelona, under the guidance of Archimandrite Makary Rosselló, the General Vicar for Spain and Portugal of Moscow Patriarchate. He also had as private tutor for orthodox studies, Archimandrite Juan Nadal.
In 2011 (on behalf of the feast of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, in Barcelona), he received the ordination as deacon by His Eminence Polycarp, Metropolitan of Spain and Portugal, Ecumenical Patriarchate. In 2012 (February 26th), he was ordained into the priesthood by the same metropolitan. He opened the parishes of Saint Alexandros, Patriarch of Constantinople in Mallorca, and Saint Nicholas in Menorca Island. In 2015, with the blessing of Metropolitan Polycarp, he was tonsured into monastic orders by Most Reverend Archimandrite Makary (Dean of Moscow Patriarchate for the Spain and Portugal), receiving the name of Alexander.
In 2019, he moved to the US and resided in Michigan. In 2020, Fr Alexander was accepted by His Eminence Peter, Archbishop of Chicago, and Mid America into his diocese, after receiving the canonical release from the Ecumenical Patriarchate. His Eminence Peter sent Fr. Alexander to Lubbock, to attend this mission of Saint Catherine, as assistant priest of the Deanery of Texas. In 2021, he was assigned rector of the same parish with the blessing of His Eminence Peter.
In March 2nd, 2023, in San Antonio, at the clergy retreat, His Eminence +Peter, awarded Hieromonk Alexander the right to wear Nabedrinik, for his diligent and sincere service to the Holy Church.
Father Alexander, besides the ability to speak several languages, likes to cook and bake. He is interested always in different topics to be brought up during the conversations. From history, geography, culture to many other topics. As hobby, he loves to deep learn the roots of the languages that he speaks, seeing always the philology part.
The Patron Saint of Hieromonk Alexander is Saint Alexandros, Patriarach of Constantinople, is celeberated on August 30th.
